If The Wound Is How the Light Enters You, How Do You Heal?

If the wound is a kitchen window,
you must leave it open and not cover it
with curtains or a screen. Scatter
birdseed on the sill and invite the wild
birds inside your kitchen. If the wound
is a door, you must leave it unlocked
and bury your key in the garden
for the snap peas and tomatoes to hold
with roots and tendrils of vine. If
the wound is a blizzard, you must
make a cup with your hands and melt
each handful of snow with your breath
until the crocus and the snowdrop reappear.
If the wound is a mirror, you must
keep your eyes open until the wound
is a wound
