If you haven't already, you might want to take a look at the About Us page to get a feel for what we like to publish, and definitely check out our previous issues so that you can see for yourself before submitting your writing.

Guidelines for Submission

The editors at Sweet understand that there are good works that get overlooked, and that often our decisions are based not just on quality but also on taste. That said: Sweet publishes emerging and established writers three times a year--September, January, and May.

Sweet seeks only poetry and creative nonfiction and anything in between. Sorry, fiction writers! We read submissions all-year. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify us immediately if your work has been taken by another literary journal (we'd like to be the first to congratulate you). Our preferred submission size is three to five poems, several short nonfiction pieces, or one longer work.

Along with your attachment, please include a brief cover letter in your email with complete contact information. Also, after sending us a portfolio of work, please wait to hear back before sending another.

Poetry

Please attach no more than 3 poems to poetrysubmissions@sweetlit.com in one Microsoft Word (*.doc, *.docx) document.

Creative Nonfiction

Please attach one piece of creative nonfiction to cnf@sweetlit.com in a Microsoft Word (*.doc, *.docx) document. Essays should not exceed 3,500 words.
